New moving vans: More room, better value

New moving vans: More room, better value

At Plantation Budget Truck Rental get really excited about helping people move. Yeah, that's not too exciting to most people - until they need to move. Then, you really want people who are passionate about moving and have lots of experience. Budget Truck is the second largest truck rental company in the continental United States with around 2,800 businesses and 32,000 trucks across the country, and we are proud to provide a full line of moving supplies and tips to help you move. We have trucks 12-feet, 16-feet and 26-feet in length. We have newer trucks with great features, including translucent roofs and wood floors. The roofs let in light during the day and the wood floors are gentler with the contents (and they're easy to replace when worn out). Also, our truck beds are mounted so there is no "wheel hump" inside, like you see in other brands of rental trucks. So loading and unloading is much easier and there's more space for cargo ... read more

New Year's resolutions for auto care

Why not have some New Year's resolutions for your car? This is a good list of auto care resolutions from GreenLiving.com. 1. Get your vehicle's body into shape Most people resolve to get their body into better shape in the New Year. Why not make the same resolution for your vehicle? A simple vehicle maintenance regime -- including measuring your tire pressure, checking for leaks once a month, taking your vehicle in for regular tune-ups and reading the owner's manual -- will help you save money and fuel, and protect the environment. Maintenance regimes vary widely from one vehicle to another so check with the manufacturer of your vehicle and find a trained automotive professional to tune up your vehicle. 2. Be a fuel-efficient driver Relax behind the wheel. Aggressive driving and speeding can increase your fuel consumption by as much as 35 percent. Slowing down, giving ... read more

Helping a local family

Helping a local family

We have a soft spot for helping people and we recently gave a new battery to some merchants in the former Boise International Market. Abdul and his wife Kutukira are hardworking people and it's unfortunate the market burned down. The market added diversity to Boise, a space for entrepreneurs, and provided a nice place for lunch, coffee and shopping. We hope it opens again soon somewhere. There's a Gofundme page that has been helping the merchants and their families also. When word came to us that Abdul's van needed a battery, we were happy to help. Service manager Ed Guild and truck rental specialist Sandra Bright present a new battery to Abdul Mukomwa

Ultimate Car Show worth supporting!

For the third year in a row, we are donating to Ultimate Car Show and Charity Fundraiser at J's Ultimate Hand Car Wash. This year's show will be at the car wash from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, July 25. Since 2013, J's has been holding the show to bring a nice event to Garden City, and also to raise money for charities. As in years past, we're donating a couple of oil changes (which are the best in the business, by the way!). We reprinted the news release for this year's show, which has all the details, including the purpose of the charity. This year, money raised will go toward supporting veterans programs. So, please stop by J's this Saturday! J’s Ultimate Hand Car Wash 3rd annual car show, charity fundraiser set for Garden City on Saturday, July 25 Free public event includes family fun, a car show and raffles and fundraisers for local veterans causes For more information ... read more

Jasper provides the best remanufactured engines

At Plantation Tune Tech, our auto technicians often do heavy engine work, including overhauls. Other Boise auto shops frequently send us their work that is too difficult for them to perform. However, sometimes, the engine is beyond what we can do and the customer needs a remanufactured engine. We are pleased to work with JASPER Engines and Transmission on acquiring rebuilt engines for customers who need them. Unfortunately, many people who need a new engine will get one from a junkyard - bad idea! Junkyard engines are often steam cleaned and look good. But an engine is a complex piece of machinery and if it's from a junkyard, it could all kinds of problems no one knows about. You're rolling the dice and it could be a very expensive gamble. For example, the engines of vehicles involved in rollover accidents may continue to run, even running wide open while upside down, starved of oil and incurring damage ... read more

Wiper blades only $2 each during November

Wiper blades only $2 each during November

During November, stop by Plantation Tune Tech and receive a set of NAPA wiper blades for your car for only $2 each. Comparable wiper blades cost $8 each. We'll even install them for you for free. We will ask you to provide your email address so we can send you updates about our services, including special offers like this. It's a good idea to get new wiper blades annually. Boise is a fairly dry place but still, we get out fair share of rain and snow and it really starts in November. Each year, many accidents happen because of dirty windshields. And a main cause of dirty windshields is worn wiper blades. Wiper blades are actually very delicate. They're thin, exposed strips of soft rubber. One of the worst things you can do is run them over frosty or icy windshields. That will grind them down and roughen them, so when you turn them on to wipe off water, they will leave streaks and gaps. Even if you don't run wipers over frost, they will eventually get worn out. So, stop by toda ... read more
