We do a fair number of repairs to antique and vintage cars, mostly engine repairs and transmissions. We enjoy working on old cars because it's a different skillset. Because there's not a lot of electronics, you have to become an old-school mechanic. You can't plug the car into a computer and have it tell you exactly what's wrong, so you have to listen and feel. They're easier to work on - there's usually a lot of room in the engine compartment to get around - but it can be a challenge to find parts for them. ... read more

Bad idea, says the Car Care Council, an automotive consumer education group, especially when motorists don't realize that in as little as 10 minutes, they can determine if their car is ready for long-distance travel. Spring is here and as the weather warms up, people will be turning on their air conditioner. An air conditioner works very hard and needs occasional maintenance. If your car air conditioner needs help, here are some warning signs. The air is cold, but then becomes warm. The air may stay warm, or then cool down and warm up again in a cycle, without you adjusting anything. There are strange odors.
